BIO
As my headline bio reads, I am a writer. I do not declare that sentiment lightly, as I have a close and personal relationship with the creative writing craft. One of the questions often asked in many online forums is “how can one be a writer?” or “how to write a compelling story?” It truly takes one having a personal, long-term relationship with literature. In addition to higher-level thinking, the skillset includes subliminal figurative language application in various written communication contexts. This relationship encompasses literary appreciation of ALL forms. This ultimately leads to one being a masterful architect of world-building and character-driven narratives. The aforementioned describes who I am as a creative writing artist.
My journey with world-building began at the age of seven when my father asked me to rewrite Disney classics such as “The Little Mermaid” and “Beauty and the Beast”. I smile fondly at the memory of the purchase of that typewriter. Currently, in 2025, a typewriter would be considered ancient. Haha! However, it was that typewriter that jump-started my writing journey.
Unfortunately, my father later died. The seed of literary appreciation he planted was still embedded within my creative soul genius.
I still persevered.
I went on to win several writing competitions at my school. One of those competitions led to my poem getting published in a book anthology. As time went on, my talent in storytelling matured. I knew I wanted to become a published author, ultimately. Nonetheless, life happens. Between undergrad, graduate school (completed a MLIS degree), the hassle of purchasing my first home, my mother getting diagnosed with a terminal illness, and other “life experiences”, my dreams became delayed and not denied but delayed.
Fast forward…
Two major life events happened recently: I accepted a teacher-librarian job at an IB school in Dubai and enrolled in Stephen's MFA in TV and Screenwriting degree program. I currently have a completed spec for Tyler Perry’s “The Haves and Have Nots”, a TV pilot, a screenplay, and in the process of completing another screenplay and TV pilot. All are psychological thrillers. My current work in progress is a horror, however, as I consider my life experiences up until now a horror story.
The information shared comes from my heart - no AI (Chat GPT). I would type more, but I'll end here out of respect for the reader’s attention span.
I look forward to being a change agent and to bringing stories to life in print and on screen.
